Sustainable Coastal Solutions, Inc. (Coastal Solutions) is a coastal science and engineering firm focused on providing high quality coastal process analyses and engineering, shore protection design, oceanographic data collection, hydrodynamic and water quality modeling, sediment transport modeling, and coastal zone management. Our staff is composed of a diverse group of specialists, most with advanced technical degrees. Coastal Solutions is seeking a Coastal Engineer/Coastal Scientist for our North Falmouth, Massachusetts office on Cape Cod, as described in the following position description.
Position: Coastal Engineer/Coastal Scientist to join our team in our North Falmouth, MA office.
Start Date: Immediate
Duties and Responsibilities: Performs coastal engineering and scientific analyses. Assists with engineering design services. Prepares technical reports and proposals, as required. The Coastal Engineer/Scientist will have the following specific duties and responsibilities:
- Performs analysis of coastal, oceanographic, and environmental processes
- Responsible for contributing to field data collection programs
- Responsible for obtaining environmental permits under appropriate local, state, and federal agencies
- Performs hydrodynamic and water quality modeling of estuaries and coastal embayments
- Performs wave and sediment transport modeling
- Provides design calculations for coastal structures and beach nourishment projects
- Works successfully with other team members and individually to achieve project goals
Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Coastal Engineering or a closely related field is desirable with 0-6 years of professional experience. Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills are highly desirable. Demonstrated capabilities in quantitative data analysis and understanding of coastal processes are required. Familiarity with numerical modeling using standard coastal processes programs (e.g., Delft3D, CMS, SWAN, RMA2, XBeach, etc.) and AutoCAD software are advantageous. The candidate should be able to provide proof of eligibility for employment in the United States.
